"Maiden of the Rock." The second tallest Mayan ruin in Belize. El Castillo rises 130 feet above the main plaza with panoramic views across the Cayo District, Guatemala, and the Mopan River.
Caracol Mayan Temples
The most extensive Mayan site in Belize. Over 80 square miles, 30,000 structures, and at its peak a population of 150,000. Situated deep in the Chiquibul Forest Reserve — only rediscovered in 1936.

The world's first jaguar preserve. Spectacular waterfalls, mountain views, and over 290 species of birds. Hikes range from short walks to Ben's Bluff with its panoramic view of the entire basin.

Belize is home to more than 500 identified species of birds. A pre-dawn drive through Sittee River, where keel-billed toucans, fork-tailed flycatchers, blue-crowned motmots, and harpy eagles wait in the lush vegetation.

The Sittee River is the gateway to one of nature's most breathtaking phenomena. A five-minute boat ride takes you onto the water. The night sky is thick with stars, all the way down to the tree line.
The guide's flashlight cuts across the lagoon. Then he turns it off.
The boat picks up speed. The wake begins to glow. Blue light. The tiny algae, settled in the lagoon during the dry season, get agitated and illuminate. The faster the boat moves, the brighter it burns.
He stops the engine. You stare into the water. Schools of fish dart beneath you, each one trailing blue fire.
It is, by every account of everyone who has ever seen it, absolutely unbelievable.
