Robyn & Anthony in Belize

Our Belizean Story

A dream ten years in the making.

2015 · The Trip That Changed Everything

The Beginning — "We just fell in love."

In August of 2015, Robyn and Anthony Shedrock traveled to Belize with a single question: could this be home? They toured Placencia and Hopkins, looking for an oceanfront lot that was affordable, authentic, and theirs.

When they found the property on Coral Pointe in Hopkins — a unique peninsula with front and back Caribbean views and a dock already negotiated into the purchase — the question answered itself. Their vision of a two-story home became three stories, just to capture the full 180-degree view of the Caribbean Sea and the Maya Mountains, with Victoria Peak rising behind it all.

Becoming Landowners

On January 13, 2016, Robyn and Anthony became landowners in Belize. They chose Belize for clear property title, English-speaking culture, and tax laws that favor homeownership. They chose Hopkins for its proximity to the Caribbean, the Sittee River, the reef, and — most of all — its people.

They got their scuba certifications. They visited as often as they could. And every time they left, they fell a little deeper in love.

"Ultimately, it was the people of Hopkins that stole our hearts — their joy of life, friendliness, and eagerness to share the beauty of their country solidified our decision to make Hopkins home."

November 2018 · Breaking Ground

Breaking Ground

In November 2018, they broke ground. The plan was to finish by 2019. Then COVID closed the borders. The building process paused. The dream waited.

They waited with it.

By March 2021 — two years and four months after breaking ground, six years after that first trip to Belize — Shedrock Shangrila was complete. It opened for guests in April 2021.

"We hope you will enjoy our slice of Paradise."

Let the sound of waves crashing against the shore, the breathtaking blue waters of the Caribbean, the views from the rooftop deck, and the soft breeze beckon you to what Robyn and Anthony spent a decade building — for you.
